Any news on the new Octy vRS Diesel

Featured Replies

A friend of mine needs to place an order soon for a new car. He is very interested in the new Octy vRS diesel if there is going to be one.

I've seen several mentions of it on here (170BHP), but.....

Is it official yet?

Anyone found any links on Skoda web-sites?

Anything confirmed in the motoring press?

Has anyone's dealer confirmed it?

I know prices are out this week for the petrol version (orders being taken soon for December delivery???) but what is the timing on the diesel version?

His old 1.9TD Octy estate was stolen recently, and the insurance company want to settle, so waiting much longer is not really an option.

Asked the very same question on here a few days ago mate............ bugger all response

The 168 bhp version of the engine definately exists and it will be appearing in the new Passat first.

As for the VRS diesel. Skoda have I believe confirmed a diesel will follow but I wouldn't expect to see any on the roads till next spring.

If your friend wants a diesel and needs to order soon then it would have to be a 140bhp version.

2006 the tdi will be out 170bhp:P:D:)

I had a chat with a dealer last week who said springtime next year.

There's bound to be a good re-map for the 140 bhp model available by next spring anyway. I'd expect at least 168 bhp from that.

I've heard the official 170 engine will also have the edge over the 140 for noise levels though due to using quieter injectors. It will be interesting to see what the price premium is over the nearest equivalent 140bhp version will be.

Here's an odd thing. The volkwagen literature i've seen states 138 bhp from the 2.0 TDI but the Skoda literature states 140 bhp from the same engine. 'What Car' data also reflects this too. Strange.

Interesting that , because my 2004 1.9 tdi 130 , is actual rated as 136 according to the dealers computer . I am told that 130 can vary up or down , it is not an exact figure . Whats the opinion . Even so would rearly like to get hands on a new one at 170/180 after the current experience .

I've been down this road before discussing actual power from the VW diesel engines against that on paper. Opinion varies. My argument was based on the 'before and after' power curves for VW diesel engines on the Superchips Website.

Check out the maximum bhp on the 'before' power curve for the Octavia 2.0 TDI here http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/skoda2ltdi.pdf

Thats probably the difference between horsepower and pfederstarke , or PS.

PS is a metric horsepower and is very slightly different
