any ideas guys?

Featured Replies

Hi guys as few may know i had a few problems fitting timing belt on my mk1 vrs. I have done this and timing is now right. But i am having trouble driving it,as im accelerating its ok until it hits 2.5k revs up to 3k revs it judders as if its goin to stall, then if i change in that range it sounds awefull and backfires, but then it can also accelerate good at times. Has anyone got experience with this problem or have any ideas? I cant have it read or provide codes as i dont have a scanner and not had any luck asking on here for help to get it scanned.

Sounds like you might have an air leak somewhere. Mine did things like that when I had a leak in the intake pipework and the engine was getting more air than the MAF was reading and running lean.

Check all of the intake and vac pipework, intake manifold etc for leaks.

Thank you mate i also did n249 and n112 delete could that be a cause of the problem?(i cant see it being one as followed bowders guide and he not had problems) i will have a good look tomorrow at pipework

Could be, or maybe you disturbed another pipe by accident.

Right guys could my syptoms be from recuirc valve be playing up. Or could it be my actuator playing up? As it seems to be doin this when goin into boost

mmm this sounds very similar to my problem

Smoke test will find air leaks - I had a tiny pinhole sized leak to the intake manifold that made quite a difference.

Bugfootman what was yours?

There is another thread but around the same rev range coughs and splutters ,ease of and she picks up OK,doesn't do it all the time and I'm getting a noise I'd compare to that f hearing the turbo spool when you have a induction kit fitted,I'm gonna try clean the egr,I've already changed fuel and air filters with no effect
