Hi - I recently did an oil change on my mark 1 Fabia 1.4 8v. The geniuses at Eurocarparts gave me a sump plug and washer for a 1.4 16v.

 

I had to resort to a Halfords washer and the original sump plug. It now leaks but don't think it is threaded.

 

Two questions:

 

1. Do I need to change the sump plug on this model when changing oil (if so where do you get them as no-be seems to stock these)?

 

2. If I can use the same sump plug how tight to the threads should the washer be?

You're probably supposed to replace the washer every oil change but I never bother and it hasn't leaked yet. As for tightening - just nip it up firmly. Don't over-tighten.
