May not be a turbo after all

Featured Replies

Hi all I have two pipes broken 9d8cfa4d1a7c9c599a0af7b0ccde247d.jpge3a264dbd0f9a2605759a5ad5d05d7fe.jpg and can you tell me if there is meant to be oil going through these pipes

Typical part to disintegrate to millions of pieces! They are breather pipes, you can find them on flea bay if you look up Octavia mk1 breather hoses, and to answer your question, no, oil isn't meant to be in them. There might be a build up of sludge though. They're rubbish quality though, they just crumble due to the heat in the engine bay!

Cheers mate I'm starting to worry now cos mine is covered in oil through all the pipes from top to bottom [emoji25]

There is a way to avoid build up of sludge, and I still have to get around to it myself! Look on the technical guide forum, and you'll find a "how to" guide by Bowders1 on fitting an oil catch can to collect any residual oil coming from the crankcase. It's under OCC DIY guide :) hope that helps!

There breather pipes from the crank case so oil vapour goes threw them so there will be some oil in there.

Any idea if these pipes splitting would make white smoke poor out of the exhaust anybody?

Hmm I wouldn't have thought so, I had to run mine for a few days with a split breather pipe as was waiting for part in the post, and there was no white smoke coming out of mine. Maybe it's just burning oil?

Unfortunately it is the turbo [emoji24] changed the pipes and it's still dumping white smoke out the exhaust and turbo is making a strange noise
