Radio plug

Featured Replies

Is the radio connector plug on a Fabia VRS an ISO? how does the stereo come out (i assume the sides lever off?)

cheers

Yes it is an ISO connector.

It comes out be inserting two radio keys into the two slots in the front of the set.

don't think i've got the 2 holes at the sides in this h/u (must check again tommorow)

thanks :)

you will have two holes and as said by our leader it has a regular iso so a new unit will just plug straight in

Or use two blunt hacksaw blades:

You may find removing blanking plates above stereo my help to grab hold of it to get it out.

And yes the hacksaw blades do work ....one will do just snap it in half ....but you will need to take the switch blanks out to help lever it out ...the one I did was very tight

you may need to switch permanant live and switched live around aswell if your hu keeps resetting!

also might be a tight squeeze to get the new one in!

good luck tho

Funnily enough i installed a new headunit the other day and had to use all my force to push it in, took a good while.

Now ive found out t need to swap two wires around!

It aint gonna come out without a fight, or a dash take apart.

Any tips on how i can remove it, the keys aint gonna be strong enough!

I good tip.

NEVER FORCE A HEADUNIT IN!

If its not going in you have wires trapped behind it. Trapped wires cause problems and could be dangerous. Take the glovebox out so you can get your hand behind the headunit and feed the wiring back as you push the headunit in. You can also cut out one of the support bars at the back to extra clearance if you need to.

i always check a unit before locking it in place :)

saves more cuts/scratches/bruises/bleeding

Glovebox comes out fairly easy in the Octy & Fabia

I understand that all VAG cars including Skodas have the permanent and ignition lives swapped from what is standard ISO - so will need to swop if you are installing a different HU.

I agree with comment about damage to wires if you are not careful - happened to my Superb and meant that the heated front seat was always on - - middle of summer too!

Ah those 2 holes - i thought you meant the 2 holes either side as on older units :)

thanks for the help

its not the wires that hold it!!!

its the fact that the hole seems to bl**dy small!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a DIN sized headunit, so any other DIN sized unit will fit.
