Extra high beam lights

Featured Replies

Hello.

I´m going to fit some extra highbeam lights on my Skoda Octavia 2010 1,6TDI cr 4x4 Winter edition. Do i need some extra controlbox ora can i just add an regual relay for thise lights? anyone who knows? Ive tried with HID but that result on a broken BCM (CCM) module and cost me alot of money to fix. so i dont want to do that again.

Thans for help.

Safest way is probably using a relay and using your full beams to switch on the relay and then power your additional lights from the battery via the relay

I'd agree with willydog....you can't really go wrong with a relay activated by the high beam. The biggest headache for me would be working out where to mount the extra lights!

Since OP is from Norway, I'm guessing stonking big high beam lamps on top of bumper cover :sun: :sun:  .

Though Hella Micro Xenon Premium Edition  are quite decent and small enough to hide in the top grille (there is more space in bottom grille, but range suffers so only install in bottom grille if you want side road/mountain light). They are quite decent, a further improvement over the standard Micro Xenons that I have on my Superb, but cost is hard to stomach unless put on a new car. Whatever you do, use a relay and a separate feed from battery to run them.

I think that's the route I'd take if I was driving in unlit rural roads in Scandinavia.....there's too many Moose that like nothing more than jumping out from the trees into the middle of the road in front of cars!

It seems like i have to use a CAN m8.Highbeam module to get this right. Yes i live in Norway and in winter it´s very dark here an need of good lights. Tried to look on ebay for this module, but cant findt it there so i have to look for it in local shops.

Case soulved.

Why would a relay not work? Unless you are afraid to open the headlamps?

The only difference is where to hook it up, relay might need to run a wire into the headlamp, still over fifty times cheaper  than a Canbus module
