Long lasting Front Tyres

Featured Replies

My current Vreds Sessanta came with the car in Jan 14, and have now done 19k with still about 1.5mm of legal tread left.

I replaced the rears recently with Goodyears AS2's and am wondering if I am likely to get anywhere near the same mileage out of them on the front, or should I stick to the vreds again

or is there anything better?

The Vreds rarely spin and I have yet to experience them losing any grip, even in the wet

Thanks

Everyone has an opinion on tyres!

If you like the Vreds go for them again would be my advice.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1's very good have been on for 3k and no issues

Must be the way I drive because my car gets about 10k on the fronts on vred sessantas, I wouldn't say i'm that fast a driver either but I suppose that is quite subjective. If you're getting 19k out of them stick with them as like you say the grip is really good.

Got 24k out of eagle f1s on the front of the Passat.

If you've got AS2s on the rear why wouldn't you get them for the front?

33000 ish miles from my original front tyres fitted to my octy vrs diesel, Michelin premacys.

I'm not sure if they will wear too quick?

That's good, think I had them on my previous superb and found traction not the best

comparing tyre wear is pointless on internet forums.

some will accelerate, brake, and corner far quicker than others.

some drivers may only do motorway miles, not the same power etc.

POINTLESS. at £66 a corner for the vred's I wouldn't be overly concerned how quickly they wear out,

Also something to consider is that harder tyres, that last longer, will have generally poorer grip.

I have Michelin energy saver tyres all round on my Octavia. They have covered 23,000 miles and the fronts have 4mm of tread left....the rears more (about 6mm). The car gets used mostly for short local journeys. Grip levels are good even in the wet, and considerably better than the Pirelli P6000's that they replaced.

Maybe. But you can still get a rough idea from other peoples experiences.

Never had any traction problems with them. What I can say they were amazing in the snow and ice when we had they two bad winters a couple of years ago.

A few years ago, we had Bridgestone Turanzas on our Mazda 3. I think they had done nearly 33K all round, but were lethal in the wet. Loads of tread left but didn't stop.

its a toss up between the goodyears eagle F1 AS2's and Vreds sessanta's.

Just need to look out for the best deals as may be changing them next month

Thanks

For longevity it's hard to beat Michelin's.

Saying that I've never had them except as OEM because they're so damned expensive.

Can only talk positive about VREDS , the Soportrac 3  ,on the Rearof my pd 130 Octy  have lasted 56000 ,3 years ,  and just passed an MOT this week

Ditto.

If I rotate my energy savers from front to back now, I'll easily get 40,000 miles out of them.

typical, had the 2 rears replaced a couple of months back, now have nail in one. At least it can be repaired, according to Kwik Fit.

Job for tomorrow!
