It pays to shop around.

Featured Replies

Just had my insurance renewal through.
It was £425 for the year through Admiral, up from last year by about £100.

I went on all the usual comparison websites and the best deal I got was £215 with Tesco bank through confused.com.

By the time Admiral had added on the insurance tax and their charge for credit it was £493.
I called Tescobank direct as they don't offer credit terms on their/comparison websites.

All in including the taxes and credit charge £237 a saving of £256 over what I would have had to pay if I hadn't been bothered to change insurer.

But I am sure that you all do that anyway.

Every year without fail my renewal is always stupidly more expensive than if i shop around. My second year of driving my renewal was £1800 from Admiral but i managed to get a quote from Bell at the time, who are the same company for £1200!

As i'm 25 now i just renewed for £375 so can't argue with that, considering my renewal was £620 lol.

For some strange reason renewal quote I got was within 10p of comparison sites (same company cheapest as well)

Easiest renewal I've ever had!

Although I would admit this isn't normally the case!

It always pays to look. I was very surprised this year to find my renewal was cheaper than the sites by over £150.

The lowest quote I ever got for the VRS was £120 for fully comp, + legal +protected NCB, hire car and including £20 cash back. OK I'd never heard of them but £120!

I actually opted to pay a bit more to stay with a company. Better the devil you know.

My renewals usually at least double. I'm used to it, I don't even take offence any more.

I think I'm about as low as its possibly get now. When I changed to the Honda they wouldn't lower the premium, they'd only reduce my excesses.

Just done mine, and once you add back in the things the comparison sites remove, and match my Direct line policy  like for like, Direct line are exactly the same price, so I'm happy to renew again.

It pays to ring up the insurance company, I always get a better price over the phone than on the website for the same company.
