Basic question, boost gauge install...

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im new to all this and have recently got myself an 02 plate Ocatvia VRS. One of the first things I want to do is to install a boost gauge to the car but i have never owned a turbo'd car before and was just wondering if anybody could tell/show me which hose I'd need to cut into etc in order to install it?

I have searched through the forum but only found where I can bring the wires through the firewall

many thanks, Josh

Rob's infamous 'big yellow arrow' pic probably comes in handy here.

In essence you need to run a vacuum pipe from the FPR into the car interior, then pick up power for illumination from somewhere (good candidate is the headlight switch). Mount the gauge somewhere, plug both the pipe and the power into said gauge, start the car and stare at your awesome boost :)

could do a custom boost gauge install like mine

but as mentioned you need to route hose to somewhere on inlet manifold either the fuel pressure regulator by adding a "T" piece or unused nipple on manifold

to route hose into interior you can remove glove box and locate a bung at top of carpet to engine bay

comes out around here near corner of engine bay

Power to the bulb can be routed to the light control switch

Every car I buy has them attached to a tow bar loom or whatever so every time I end up rewiring it to save a fire!
