Tesco probing diesel issues in Dorset

Featured Replies

Fuel is collected from Depots for some areas.

Transported to Storage Depots and Distributed from them.

My mate is a tanker driver delivering to Filing Stations, and is never near a Refinery.

I know, I have dug a few depots up.  Even small depots store 100+ cubic metres, normally in a single or common tanks so a problem related to supply would affect mutliple locations.

My housemate is a fuel recovery tec and hes just got back from doing 12 fuel recoveries this week.

turned out that they were all using the same tesco fuel station. He says they found out the following:

When the fuel lorry/ tanker goes to the refinery the tanks are emptied of fuel then a neutralising agent is put into the refinery tank to clean it. This stuff turns the fuel residue to a chip fat oil type fluid.

Someone supposedly didnt drain the neutralising agent out of the tank so when the lorry came it filled it up eith the agent then they pumped it into the fuel stations tank.

this stuff is so nasty its detroyed peoples fuel pumps, injectors, the fuel stations pump (hence digging it up), and my house mates recovery pump which is only 2 weeks old.

Local Tesco delivery vans fill up with diesel at the local Jet station despite having their own diesel available right next to where they load up deliveries. Even Tesco won't use their own fuel.

Tescos stores and the filling stations are two different company's . Same owner all the same though.

One of the reasons I fill up at Shell, the refinery at Ellsmere Port is down the road and supplies the the garage I use and most she'll garages in Chesire / Merseyside, good fuel, small chain.

About 10 years ago our local Tesco fuel station was selling poor fuel which damaged a few car engines and since then i only buy branded fuel, ie Shell

Royal Dutch Shell do not make some especially special Product because they have fancy advertising and sponsorship

& add additives which they do not tell what they are.

They have the same failures over the years, and more than others when changing formulations.

Filling Stations selling Shell Fuel also have Underground Tank Mis-fuels, H20 Contamination etc.

Franchised Owners that are slow to react to reports of bad fuel having been sold etc.

The products come in with their partners, and are actually often the same product.
