Citigo Tyre Pressures

Featured Replies

What tyre pressures are you using on your Citigo?

I started off using the recommended tyre pressures for the one or 2 passengers only (from memory 32 front 29 rear but I can't be sure without going and checking) but I found it somewhat bouncy at the rear, I guess because the tyre sidewalls are flexing.

However, today I loaded up the car to take my lad to Uni and upped the tyre pressures for a fully loaded car, 32 front and 36 rear. After dropping my lad off I drove home with the car empty (except for me of course!) and didn't adjust the pressures and I found the car far more to my liking.

I guess I need to do a little more experimenting on this.

2.1 bar at rear and 2.3 bar at front. With higher pressures it feels like there was no suspension at all.  ;)

Well the recommended pressures (on the fuel lid) are 33psi front 30psi rear. They seem ok to me with those pressures.

Having said this I better go check them, I had the second service done last Friday. When the car had it's first service last year the tyre pressures had gone up to 38psi front and 34psi rear, it did feel bouncy. The dealer may have had a new gauge by now though.

I've got 28psi all round [emoji16]

I've noticed that dealers (and tire shops) tend to inflate higher pressures. Maybe it's because average car owner doesn't check the pressures very often, if ever. When they over inflate there is still some air after months. Of course not enough, but at least something.

How many knows that pressures should be checked at least once a month.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I check mine once a week as part of my maintenance regime. But we do also have a Fabia vRS that needs a weekly oil check!  :D

I've had my pressures up at 40 since I got the car just over a year ago - I wonder if it's helped my fuel consumption to hit 68mpg (less rolling resistance etc)...  Interestingly, I've now done 30,000 and still have 6mm of tread all round. Are my tyres made of diamond?!
