Gear indicator on dashboard

Featured Replies

Hey there everybody..

I'm now the proud owner of a Skoda Fabia 1.6tdi plus (75hp version)

Just a quick question.. is the gear indicator on the instrument panel intermittent.

Mine appears to show the gear when it feels like it?

Mine shows me what gear I'm in all the time, and also when to change up or down if I'm overtaxing the engine (Though this might be a Greenline thing!)

Not just a Greenline thing, mine's the same.

Mine too

Shows a down arrow if you're labouring or if you floor it in a higher gear and an up arrow when it sees fit.

I tend to ignore it though. It always says change up too soon

Besides. Id of bought an auto if i didnt know when to change gear lol

When driving in polo's I noticed it went on and off all I could think was it was happy with my gear selection. So only came on if you were in the wrong gear.

To test this take the car up a long gradual hill 3rd and see if it says go up to 4th just before taking the hill.

Good luck

I find that if it's not showing the number, I'm often riding the clutch. Not enough to actually cause the gear to slip, but enough to trick a sensor. Imagine leaving your foot on the clutch and just not noticing it get heavier on the pedal.
