Featured Replies

Ahead of Honda's imminent return to F1 with McLaren in 2015, the first image of their hybrid V6 has broken cover:

What does it tell us? Very little really, as the powerunits have specific dimensions they all tend to look the same!

There is a good write up here into the technical details.

Thanks for posting this detail - i like thread this sort of stuff.

Did i read a note somewhere that the Honda F1 program may be a bit late?

This was also linked to Alonso's switch and possible challenge for the title.

All pretty much tenuous links i guess  :giggle:

It's late in that they have to play catch up as the other manufacturers have a tremendous amount of "real" data to work with. However, the other manufacturers can't do any major changes to the design whereas Honda have a blank canvas - there are pros and cons.

The engine manufacturers have to carry across the upper/lower crankcase, crankshaft and air valve system (these can't be changed) and of the remaining 61 items which can be modified only 32 can be changed.

In terms of Alonso - who knows? There is the counter rumour that Vettel has a pre-contract with Ferrari for next season, does that mean that Alonso is leaving? To McLaren? Button & Alonso? KMag leaving?

Its gonna be an interesting end to the season on the track, and off track - especially with musical chairs like this on the go!
