Rear sensor - under warranty or not?

Featured Replies

Hi...

Has anyone had a problem with their rear sensor?

One of mine has been knocked in... but my local dealer says they have to investigate the problem before confirming if it can be fixed under warranty or not.

Is it a simple problem to fix or does the bumper has to be taken off to do so?

Just wonder how much, if I am to pay, it might cost me... :(

I've now refixed 2 of mine after some "French" parking by someone else.

The book says the bumper has to be removed but I just unclipped the silver piece and managed to get my hand inside to push the sensor back in place. Added a small squirt of clear Bostik from the outside first to make sure.

The dealer is correct that they have to check whether it is a "mechanical" failure (of the clip) first, but they might do it as a good-will gesture anyway.

Thanks for that. I'll see what the dealer says when they check it out then.

The person I spoke to did mention it was meant to be 'glued' in place...

I'm giving my local Skoda dealer, Willis Motor Company in Ruislip, for fixing my sensor under warranty.

And providing me with excellent service.

I'm sure when they said they had to check "if" it was under warranty they were making sure you hadn't knocked it in somehow by bumping into something or therwise being hamfisted. I'm sure they get all sorts trying it on...

Glad it's sorted.

Cheers
