smoke

Featured Replies

is there anything we can do to limit the smoke on a mapped up ferby? being white is a pain in the ass

Nature of the beast I think.

Mine seems to smoke more with new turbo and downpipe setup, got used to it now.

Does annoy me a little how quickly the rear of the car gets dirty and my shiny Milltek tailpipes and mines not white lol so can't imagine how bad yours is Steve. I use BP ultimate diesel, is sometimes a little worse if I have to put a little supermarket fuel in.

Wait til you go GTB with larger injectors it will be worse lol

i found the milltek tailpipes made the back of mine stinking hence i changed to the letterbox style better now gunna change my fuel i think

Try weld a bit of plate on the end of the inside of the exhaust that points down over (if that makes sense lol) might help a bit as the smoke will be blowing down over at first rather than out and straight up onto the car

Good idea, iv seen Darkside doing tailpipes that are pointed downwards to reduce the smoke adhesion.

I'm used to it now though.

Would look a bit rubbish with a downward pipe with the recess IMO. Be good to get a downward pipe and then a tailpipe welded over the top of it so it still looks like it should be there ;)

side exit :D

Or a better remap with less smoke.

I have a feeling steves wont smoke as much after having work done to allow the engine to breath a little better.

You will only smoke if pushing the mapping. You should be able to get a clean 260ish any more and you require the fuel.

As jason says, side exit seems to disperse the soot very well. Was going this route but didnt like a big hole in the rear bumper :(

As above, imo a tuned diesel will smoke at some point in the rev/boost range whatever.

Yours is pretty much smoke free from what ive seen at Combe :)

Who does your mapping?

Then on the other hand you've got Joels smoke machine!!!! :)

If it is all down to mapping imo Joels mapper needs some lessons...........

:)

Ive ran a clean 234bhp and a clean 265bhp but choose to run more lol.

Ive yet to see a standard pd130 engine run clean power above 270bhp without some sort of help. Be that allowing it to breath easier or to hide it using NOS.

Mine's anything but clean, but for the power it runs, it's not too bad.  I suffer more with white wispy smoke during light power, more than black smoke on WOT.  I think I have a leak somewhere and hoping fresh injector units will sort it.

I ran a side exit on my last Fabia because of all the soot, then it never got s mark on it!

Side exit or better Map is the way to go if you don't want to be cleaning all the time :)

Quick question, I've had an S2000 open cone filter on mine for a couple of months and noticed it has been smoking a little more, do you think that is the cause or something else?

I'm having a side exit custom made later this month.

How did people find it with regards to speed bumps?

Plus does the back wheel or side get the smoke treatment instead!?

i have this on my white ibiza with full milltek system, dosent seem to matter which turbo its light throttle when turbo is spooling when i notice it more.

Speed bumps were fine, and the wheel and the side of the car didn't get any soot :)

Coincidence, it's something else.

I was running 197bhp with very little smoke. Less than some of the stage 1 mapped cars
