Break problem mk1 VRS

Featured Replies

Hai

My VRS was parked in the garage for the past two months

Yday I had a drive and found that the break pedal is vibrating while breaking , seems like the front rotters are looks like it's not applying by callipers , but the rear breaks are working properly ,

Break pads and rotters are new

Kindly check the attached picture I took after driving

The rotters are still looks like before driving , it's not pressed by callipers

You have Surface Corrosion & Scoring on your Brake Discs (Rotors) and possibly also on the Brake Pads.

You need to use them and get the rust off,  & then be sure the Pads are not spoiled or worn down.

Or have the Discs (Rotors) Skimmed or if there is not enough thickness (tolerance) left on the Discs,  replace them.

(Since they are recently replaced and then quickly corroded, they should clean up OK,

but check the pads are still OK)

Maybe have the Brake Fluid Changed / Replaced if it is not recently done and may have too much Moisture in (H20),  t

Be sure the Calipers are Freed off and the Slides Lubricated.

So generally the Brakes Serviced and Maintained.

& check the Brake Servo is working, the ABS is working etc.

Thanks a lot

If the abs is not working , the malfunction symbol will display right ?

Yes it would. & as you say, the brakes are working, it is just the vibration.

It looks like you discs need Refurnished (Cleaned up), and check the pads condition, in case of Breaking down

of the pad material, substandard pads or the likes.

All should be OK.

New cars & Demonstrators sitting on UK Car Dealers forecourts can be as bad as yours in just a few weeks,

of having not much usage.

Your picture tells your story,

the replacement discs fitted have corroded, and they have scores on them.

So if you know all was well before it was parked for 2 months, and 2 months later the Rusty Discs (Rotors)

cause vibration.

Then remove the Cause, ie the Rust / Scoring on the discs.
