Looks like my ecu is knackered.. air intake temp sensor reads 133degrees even when sensor is off.

Also radiator temp sensor reading v hot from 1st second.

Is it poss to get 2nd hand ecu and code with vagcom ?

ECU failure is virtually unheard of, in the case your experiencing you need to carefully check the wiring for any damage / water ingress/ bent pins from the sensor as it sounds like you have a dead short circuit causing the sensor to read its maximum possible value.

 

Changing the ECU requires a dealer to recode the dashpod and ECU as the two are paired together for the immobiliser function, if you just swapped the ECU then the engine will not run. You'll also have another problem because the mileage is recorded in the ECU and it cannot be altered, so your dashpod will say the correct mileage, but the ECU will have a totally different figure. Not itself a problem, but if your donor ECU has a higher mileage it could lead to a clocking claim down the line.

Dead short in the feed from sensor ?

As id guess dead short in power to sensor would blow a fuse ?

Worst thing is.. sometimes engine will start.. no light comes up

Then.. 20min later.. light comes on to say fault

But i see varients of it on ebay...

Are they all diff types ?
