Redoing car for winter

Featured Replies

I gave sonax npt and top up with bsd on every wash. I am happy with this regime.

It will be time at the end of the month to reapply the Npt. Does this sound ok?

Use G3 body prep shampoo.

Then bilt hamber korrosol iron remover

Then rinse and clay.

Then IPA wipe down diluted 10:1

Then apply npt

Then apply bsd

Absolutely fine that

Going to try and do this today. Do I use korrosol then clay or clay then korrosol?

2. Korrosol

3. Rinse

4. Clay

5. Rinse

6. Dry

Thanks Chris. Looking a bit wet out there at the moment and don't have a garage. Hopefully dry up soon.

Looks good, I Don't generally see a lot of benefit from layering Collinite products though. They are very solvent heavy and tend to strip previous layers meaning little to no improvement on durability. 2 layers will make sure you haven't missed a spot.

Cheers sparkly, I did two coats in the end.

When its been on 3 weeks, ie next week, I'll pop some Sonax BSD over the top.

As much as I love a clean car I'm keeping my "detailing" simple.

Today I have just done:

Wash

Dry

Poorboys blackhole

Poorboys EX-P

Autoglym Liquid Hard wax

Done!

I have had the same 1l bottle of liquid hard wax for a few years now. It's super quick to apply and remove and is pretty hard wearing. There's probably better stuff out there but this works for me!

If it works and gets the results you're looking for....why not

That's pretty much what I do mid summer and mid winter, clay once a year. Clay can scratch the paint so don't like to do it too may times. Rather use Tardis & iron X and leave it at that if I can. Then a good cleanse and protect.

Clay is a must if machining though.

Why is that?

I wouldn't want to rub any contamination on the paint into it at 1500rpm. That would compromise the finish. Better to have perfectly clean paint before hand, to give the best possible finish.

Just noticed I'm running low on my liquid hardwax.

Struggling to find it online (no idea where I bought it from before).

Any recommendations on something like the liquid wax? I want quick to apply and remove but also something that lasts.

When I say quick to apply I can literally just put the liquid wax on a micro fibre cloth and rub it all over the car which only takes a few minutes.

As much as I'd love to spend more time and could probably achieve better results I just don't have the time!

Thanks

Phil

I use sonax brilliant wax 1 Phil. Quick, easy and good durability. The only other liquid wax I've used is Meguiars ultimate liquid wax, which I wasn't a fan of.

Totally agree

Collinite 845 Phil

The most durable liquid wax Ive tried

Or you could try a friends own wax I'm sure he will do you a deal on it. Called optishine

I see a lot of people using that one. Didn't realise it's a liquid.

Thanks

I have as a few members on Briskoda have. It's a cracking wax very easy on off and good durability and it smells lovely. The fact that it can be used by machine made it a lot more fun for me.
