Grinding/Scraping Noise - Front Left wheel

Featured Replies

hey Guys, I recently posted about a Boot problem which was sorted after some advice from other members and searching through the forums.

I just thought I would post something else which happened in the last week which MIGHT help someone...

I started hearing a griding noise coming from my left front wheel and get a little worried as I thought there was something wrong with my brake. Everything was working fine but I understand that it could have gotten a lot worse in very little time. So after some research I decided to take the wheel off and investigate. I found the problem immediately, The back plate had moved position to where it was touching the back of the brake rotor causing a horrible grinding noise. All I did was push the metal plate back slighty all around the wheel and low and behold the noise stopped. There also could have been a stone trapped in there but I don't remember anything falling out.

Just posting as this may help someone save a lot of money taking it to a garage. As it did with me!

This is the vid that helped me understand... ( Hope it's ok to post on here )
