Problems with my battery after heavy rain fall

Featured Replies

I bought my Skoda Roomster 2007 1.6l automatic back in June 2014. Since then the battery died and an new was needed....; or so I thought. Since then every time there has been heavy rain fall or a storm the car won't start. Now the battery is fine. Last it happened I got greenflag to check it out. But it has happened again.
Has anyone else had similar problems and how did they solve it?

in the mk1 fabia's there used to be an additional wire to the alternator and used to have a connector (with a blue wire and brown wire if memory correct) on the front of the gearbox, this was a common fault in that the wire would break and you had a problem with the battery going flat

anyone know if there is a similar fault on the roomy?

if not check the alternator drive belt is tight, it may be slipping when wet and not charging properly

check the terminals are tight on the battery,

earth wires from the engine and batter to chassis is not corroded so you have a good connecion

only things that spring to mind

I have a feeling this could be to do with blocked plenum chambers. Google is your friend on this one!!

I have had a similar intermittent problem with my Touran.

Odd as this sounds I've been experimenting with parking 'nose down' on the sloped drive and so far no further issues.

ok

a little more detail require me thinks

please detail will not start?

does the engine turn over? fast or slow?

petrol or diesel? if petrol does it try and fire?

do the lights dim much when it turns overs?
