Gear box oil change 6 speed manual.

Featured Replies

Hi.

I am thinking about changing the gearbox oil in my 2,0 FSI Octavia2 with a 6 speed manual gear box.

I has now been running for 128000km so i think it is time for it!

I saw some tip about the 5 speed box that the oil filler/level plug can´t be used to check the level because the level should be a bit over the "floor" in the hole.

Is it the same thing for the 6 speed?  And what is the right amount of oil to fill if it had been completly drained?

I did mine a few months ago, straight forward drain & refill, mine took around 2.4 litres. i used genuine synthetic oil from my local skoda dealer. Mine is the 6 speed manual fitted to the vrs.

Did mine @80k miles a couple of years ago - straightforward, but make sure you have the correct tool for the gearbox plug before you start.

I also used around 2 1/2 litres but the oil comes in 1litre containers so you have to buy 3! - got mine from the local TPS branch
