Urgent Help Needed Again Guys !

Featured Replies

I was on my way home from work today and upon accelerating away from a round about on a dual carriageway I noticed that as my boost started to build it felt a little lacking, didnt boost past 14 psi (usually 20psi) and after around 8psi it sounded like an old gas kettle boiling (whistling sound).

I immediately pulled off and popped the bonnet for a look around for popped hoses etc but cudnt find any. So anyway I limped home (car drove fine when driving sensible) and popped the pc on it to scan for any error codes.

This is what I found:

17633 – P1225: fuel injector for cylinder 1 (N30): short to ground
17635 – P1227: fuel injector for cylinder 3 (N32?): short to ground
17636 – P1228: fuel injector for cylinder 4 (N33): short to ground
17634 – P1226: fuel injector for cylinder 2 (N31): short to ground
17833 - P1425: EVAP purge valve (N80) short to ground
17955 – P1547: Boost Pressure Controle Valve (N75): Short to Ground
17525 – P1117: oxygen sensor heating circuit: B1 S2: short to ground
17843 – P1435: secondary air pump relay (J299): short to ground
17938 – P1530: Intake camshaft control circuit: Short-circuit to ground
17829 – P1421: secondary air injection solemoid valve (N112): short to ground
17697 – P1289: Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Short To Ground

I checked around under the bonnet again for anything obvious, paying special attention to the fuse box on top of the battery as I know this is a problem area for this kinda thing but I bypassed the usual problem black lead to a seperate fuse black lead after it caused me issues last year and all connections are fine.

So I fired her back up and went for a spin. Still got the kettle noise and the car only boosts to a fraction over 14 psi, although it drives fairly well with no spluttering or hesitation etc.

Error codes have not yet returned.

Really need to resolve this quickly as im off work tomorrow and supposed to be going away for the weekend in the afternoon so have very limited time to sus and fix it.

Help as always would be appreciated guys.

Usually when theres that many codes theres a earthing problem somewhere

Ive rechecked all electrical connections and now the error codes have gone. However my main issue now is the noise on boost from 8-10 psi and above and the fact it wont boost past a tad over 14psi.

Ive also noticed the car doesnt react the same as normal when i start the engine. Usually if i park the car and go back to it a little while later when it starts it revs up a little and then settles to tick over. Now when it starts, it sort of just fires and kicks straight in at tick over if that makes sense. Im goin to see wot its like after being sat for a good length of time and see if the SAI Pump kicks. Im starting to wonder if thats packed in maybe?

Perhaps a boost leak somewhere? Checked all the pipes?

Checked all pipes I can get at. Only one im thinking is the silicone TIP where it fits to the turbo. It was a bitch to fit. Wondering if its started to come off. Would this cause the noise im hearing?

The other thing thats starting to cross my mind is a f**ked turbo as looking around on net it seems to make a pretty similar noise.

Starting to get worried now

Have you tried running it with the MAF unplugged? Your either not making boost or your loosing it. Hows your brake lights? Do they work properly, i.e come on after just dabbing the pedal?

Sounds like it could be an intercooler pipe leaking or off , get it often on trucks often, loud whistling when trying to accelerate.don't know if it would cause all those fault codes.
