Brake Discs

Featured Replies

I have run the Brembo's I got off Clive now for quite a few track days, it is apparent that the discs are shot as when hot there is a lot of brake judder.

This means I am in the market for some new front discs, my Golf only gets used on the track and has DS3000 pads fitted in the LCR Brembo callipers, what discs should I get to compliment the set up I have?

Usually I am happy to just fit Pagid from ECP but seeing as the discs I already have are shot I was thinking grooved but not drilled, EBC offer a few alternatives HERE but I am would like to know what you guys are running and why?

Thanks Mr Rooney, I am also in communication with Badger5, he has two piece discs, Bells and Rotors which I believe run cooler, not sure if I need to go for 330mm or 335mm upgrade or just keep the 323mm disc so I don't need to change the calliper brackets also.

Anybody running two piece discs?   Are they an improvement or not noticeably different?

Jason runs two piece discs with very good results. Not sure what make they are though.

I've had various cars with OE two piece discs, BMW M3, M5 and Porsche. There are various advantages claimed, eg BMW said the M5 disc could "float" and therefore resist warping. Not sure about that, and biggest advantage I can see is that unsprung weight is much less because inner bell is Al alloy and cast iron section is not much bigger radially than the area swept by the pads. Tracked all these cars and never had fade problems (though that might also have been choice of pads - usually DS2500). Not sure that helps your decision though!
