Quote me happy / aviva-underwritten policies

Featured Replies

Just a word of advice. Don't go near these insurers if you want to use winter wheels or tyres other than the exact profile and type fitted from the factory. Totally unwilling to shift from their 'company policy'.

At least I bought early so have been able to cancel with no costs.

I use Aviva for both cars (Multicar Policy) and they were fine about me using Winter wheels and tyres...

"No need to inform us", they said

They also know that I use 16" on both cars .....despite mine having 18's and the wife's, 17's as standard

Thanks Chris, very interesting. I'm still corresponding with them, perhaps aviva are a bit more realistic than the QMH side of things.

There's no charge and no problem with us for winter wheels/tyres. You just need to tell us when you swap them over each way.

Hope this helps some of you.

As above really, qmh said exact same thing to me last year

Shortly after I purchased my Roomster, I replaced the O/E 50mph steel spare wheel with an alloy wheel & tyre identical to the other four on the car.  Aviva considered this a notifiable modification to the standard vehicle but did not increase the premium at the time.

When the time came to renew the policy, Aviva attempted to increase the premium by 30%.  I went elsewhere...

AVOID!!!!  Aviva (Norwich Union) ripped me off over a written off motorbike, and since then on house insurance too - a bathroom leak repair cost me £2600, because they had so many exclusions and wriggled out of paying nearly all off it.

ROBBERS!!!

On the contrary

Aviva have been brilliant for us, and friends as well

But in some ways it should. It's the lack of consistency which is frustrating!

Everyone is going to have had a bad experience with any company. Just give them a ring and see what they are like on the phone
