Since I bought my car its had a bouncy rev counter on idle. Lately it Seems to be worse. Vag com was plugged in the other week to sort my abs out and I never had any fault codes. Service light has just come on. Could it be that it just needs a service or is there something that commonly causes this? It has a new air filter. Iv got spark plugs fuel filter oil filter and oil to change on it but I need to order a new pickup pipe before I do them.

Throttle body clean, possibly an air leak and or vacuum pipes at a start

Ageed, check the the throttle body. My first Octavia did the same the day after I bought it. Cleaning the throttle body cured it.

Ok ill clean the tb. What pipes are u on about? Iv installed a oil catch can so alot of pipes have been replaced for new ones or blanked off.

Usually the ones from the right of the rocker down to the pipes under the inlet manifold

These have been replaced for new pipes. Guess ill start at the tb and see what happens.

Mine did this mate and it was a split pipe under the inlet manifold.

Iv capped both parts under the manifold and the 90 degree pipe under there goes to my catch can.
