towbar question

Featured Replies

hello,

just about to order a octavia estate, sorted spec I think...  but noticed tonight that as well as towbar prep, at £170 (which i was advised not to bother with)

that there is a PK1 removable swan neck option at £500... I have found a witter equivalent for £686, but wondered if there was any opinions on whether I should factory order or aftermarket?

cheers, in advance

John

Hi John and welcome.

This one's been covered in the past, but in short (IMO) go for the factory option as it includes various tweaks to the electronics to allow for reverse sensors, warranty cover etc.

You pays yer money..........

Cheers

Rick

I've had after market tow bars on other cars but went for the Skoda detachable version on this order as it is probably guaranteed to integrate with the car better than other versions. It was an expensive option but due to the dealer having great difficulty fitting it correctly, I got the tow bar prep refunded and several hundred in compensation. It works as it should now though.

The Skoda tow bar, when taken off, fits nicely into a cut-out where the tools and jack go tucked inside the spare wheel. The mounting is completely hidden from view and the socket folds away under the bumper. The rear sensors do not detect the tow bar without the trailer attached, which means you don't have to keep removing it when on your caravan holiday when you go out for the day, although it only takes two minutes to take it off.

You also have the benefit that it comes under the Skoda guarantee.

Thank you,

Well had a drive in a L&K estate today, and then placed our order...

Elegance estate 2ltr 150 4x4

Sunset glass

Heated front seats

Heated screen and washers

Spare wheel

USB lead attachment

Pk1 towbar

Boot floor pack thing (the dustbin for the door pocket)

The only thing we got wrong was the pacific blue, but couldn't stretch to metallic as well (we'll keep it 6 years minimum anyway, so not too worried about it knocking the resale)

Now for the wait :-)
