octavia mk1 vrs grille colour change

Featured Replies

Im after changing from chrome to black. Whats best to use to achieve a long lasting finish? Spraying? Plastic dip? Wrap?

Wrap...or it will probably pick up chips

Personally I prefer the original chrome look

Others the black or body coloured

Painting of the three will attract the most chips IMO.  Wrapping is probably the way forward.  Just thinking out loud but plasti dip can be peeled off, so if it that soft maybe it resists chips?

In any case the standard octy 1 section, or 2 for that matter may be better footfall and more answers.  Im personally not a chrome fan so I've aquired a painted blue one and a replacement grill interior.

Wrap is best!

I have it plasti dipped the company who makes it is called cardip uk.  IMO the dip is best because it has resisted all stone chips for 12 months and still looks like new, also if i want to change it I can just peel it off and re do it very quickly. The products are also reasonably inexpensive.

I would opt for the wrap route to improve the look mate.

Can normal wrap be used like carbon wrap. As in heat it and it bends around corners lol. Iv only wrapped with carbon so wasn't sure if it was different stuff. The plastic dip I imagine would be easier to do but does the finish look smooth since its not rubbed down after.
