After the excellent adventure that was the 2014 Cannonball Run it's time to do something else.

 

The Cannonball might not be happening next year as the company is changing hands, so I'm going to buy a ticket for the Gumboot Rally.

So the event is a coast to coast and back run which including getting to and from the area will be about 1500km over a long weekend.

The theme is "Racecar" so I'm looking for ideas on how to dress up the car.

Any mods must be road legal and have to last the distance and 100km/h speeds

 

 

Having real trouble keeping to the 100kph max speed here Rob. 

It's sooooooooo slow. That's a 2nd gear speed on my bike. 

I even got a crap hire car so I wouldn't be too tempted but today I looked down

and realised I was doing 160kph along highway 8 by Lake Pukaki. 

Whoops...... Didn't know a 1.8 petrol LWB Rav4 went that fast

You're supposed to be going slow and looking at the scenery.

Our route started in Christchurch, then Kaikoura, Hamner Springs, Westport, Franz Josef (3 days),

Wanaka, Queenstown(4 days), and currently in Twizel(2 days). Off to Akaroa for the last two

days tomorrow. Then off to Pangkor Laut in Malaysia for a final week in the sun before we return

to dreary old Bristol. I'll do a proper post with pics when I get back home to my PC and can

properly collate my many many pictures.

Awesome. I'm itching to tour the South Island again, it's an incredible place.

Still not sure whether to hang on for the Cannonball or do the Gumboot.
