brake light and warning beeps

Featured Replies

hello everyone,

just come home from work and the dashboard brake light came on and started beeping, I've looked through the previous posts which I found most helpful.

my main question is other than checking the fluid level and the handbrake switch has anyone had this problem and it been something else. the pads are newish and the car was serviced in may.

thanks in advance.

As pads were changed recently, possible brake-pad wiring connector that connects to brake pad to loom has a wiring fault?

the pads have been in for about 7 months now.

Did you check the foot brake lights?

I did check the foot brake lights.

would I be right in thinking that if it was a permanent ( not an intermittent one ) fault the warning light and buzzer would sound every time i turned the ignition on.

Not necessarily

Have you checked the level? I struggled to see the level through the thick plastic reservoir , it was only until I poured some more dot4 in that I realised how much had been lost.

The beeping would happen to me whenever I braked hard or accelerated hard, leading me to think that the fluid was 'sloshing' about in the reservoir and therefore activating the switch for the low level.

If however you have checked the level and it was indeed fine.

Could it be the low level sensor itself?

Let us know how you get on

thanks for the reply.

I have checked the level, I can't see any marks on the reservoir, the fluid level is about 1/4" from the top. when I  move the car by hand you can see the fluid moving but not enough I don't think to set the low level indicator off.

thanks for the reply.

I wouldn't of thought that is the case then.

Does the beeping and light flashing happen as soon as you start the engine, does it continue at intervals as you drive ?
