Current speed

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a very simple and trivial question, I have just bought a 2009 Octavia Elegance 1.9 TDI, I have noticed on the multifunction display at the bottom when stationary it shows total mileage but when moving it shows current speed, is it possible to change it to MPH rather than KPH and if not can I turn it off so it shows total mileage continuiously?

Thanks.

On a related note, can I add this function to my pre FL car with maxidot?

If you have maxidot then yes.

Needs some VCDS jiggery pokery to change to country setting to Australia then change the units back to miles in maxidot.

Pre-FL no.

How can I tell if it is maxidot?

You can do it on non maxidot clusters too. It adds an extra screen to the display when you press the button, and shows speed in mph, and gets rid of the kmh display and reverts to mileage full time.

Can you? Would you have any information on that? What I've read on here seems to always refer to cars with Maxidot.

Had no change in mpg whatsoever with mine so can't really comment on that.

So I need to find someone in the Bristol area who can plug in and change settings before I can twiddle knobs or is it economical to buy the cable and software myself?
