Citygo Automatic

Featured Replies

The Mrs is taking her driving lessons at the moment and quite fancies a Citygo when she passes her test, she want's an automatic but I've heard that the ASG gearbox is not the best?  Do you think for a new driver this will matter much?

It is fine really. Just not if you're expecting DSG speed/smoothness.

I have heard, like all the other automated manuals they are often easier to drive/predict in manual mode.

Neil, I think it probably depends on what she has been learning on. If she has been learning in a manual car, an automated manual like the Citigo is probably easy to adapt to - you can nudge the gear lever when you want but you don't have to use the clutch and when you don't do anything, it changes for you. If she has learned on a traditional automatic, she will be used to a creep function when parking and might be put off by the feel of it changing gears. If that is the case or if she likes a faster car, try a used Fabia 1,2tsi DSG or an older 1.6 tiptronic (the new Fabia is out in the new year). Good luck! Andy.
