No rear speakers

Featured Replies

When I picked up the car a few weeks ago I noticed the fader was set to fronts only, when changing to rears no sound. Just removed HU and checked wiring and swapped it for another spare I have and its still the same. So, I started removing door and boot trim and found there are no speakers! Also, no wiring for them either. Is this normal?

What car is it mate?

Its normal on some models if theyre in basic spec form.

For example, the Fabia S has no rear speakers.

My Classic only had front speakers

2006 Bohemia Estate. There are 4 speaker cables at the back of the HU, are these just the fronts?

possibly. Do you have tweeters in the doors anyware aswell as the mids?

Its common for cars to share loom etc so you might have the wiring for them (even if you cant find a plug in the back) for them and no speakers fitted.

For the driver and front passenger its better this way anyway. You get a better sound stage and better SQ from the system

Not looked in front doors, I know there are no rear speaker next to the handles. I guess I will need to take the door cards off to look properly. Still find it odd there are no rear speakers, never seen that before in any of my past 30'odd cars!

After a tad of interwebing....

Bohemia is based on the Classic trim level.

Found one quote stating "Symphony single CD 4 speakers front". Which I guess means there are no rear speakers fitted as standard. Would also fit in with the Classic trim level.

As above. Quite normal on the lower spec models.

In the higher models you get 4 speakers and 4 tweeters.

I think the wiring is there as far as the doors. So you would need the speakers and some cables/connectors.

Not a huge job to fit them really.

Definitely makes a difference having more speakers.

My Felicia only had front speakers and I fitted some in the back and it made a huge difference to the sounds.

The Octavia has the 8 speaker set-up and wouldn't want any less as it sounds awesome.

Having no rear speakers is an excellent idea if you are into sound quality.

Rear speakers destroy the sound stage in the front seats.

Agree here. You cant beat 2 channel stereo.

When i get the money to upgrade mine (or justify it) I'll be upgrading the 2 fronts and the tweeters in the a-pillar and fading out the back on the head unit.

This way i can fade it back in if I've got passengers in the back, so they can hear better :)

The four wires will probably the 2 front speakers and the 2 front tweeters.

No wiring and not speaker holders in rear doors or boot area. Been quoted £150 to supply and fit speakers in boot area, tempted to go for that just because I can't be bothered taking everything apart!

Don't do it ! Spend your £150 on a set of quality components to replace your front speakers.

If you already have such a set, spend them on a good radio.

If you also have one, spend them on a 2-channel amp to power your front speakers.

If you already have all of the above, spend them on beer and have a good time.

Rear speakers are to be avoided.

+1!

You dont really need rear speakers. Decent front speakers will give you a much better sound stage and stereo effect.

It certainly makes a huge difference to the sound stage  -  it destroys it.... !
