springs?

Featured Replies

Will rear vrs springs be a direct replacement for my 1.9 tdi ??

They are also off a pre fl deisel hatch

I know the front strut requires the 288 hubs just wondering if the rears are the same

Edited by DanialA11

They will fit but will be stiffer and lower compared to normal 1.9 tdi springs, they will also usually be paired with stiffer shocks so they compliment the stiffer springs.

If your wanting vrs shocks pm me I have all 4 for sale

I know to fit the front strut u need to change the hob and carriers

Is it the same with the rear strut

To change a rear spring you dont need to change the hub, rather than fitting vrs springs to your standard tdi (which to me sounds a bit of a bodge job to be honest) why dont you get a uprated spring/shock kit thats made for you model of octavia, vrs springs on the rear with standard tdi shock absorbers sounds a odd handling combination to me. To be honest with your other threads about fitting vrs bits/wheels etc you may be better off selling this car & buying a vrs.It will probably be cheaper insurance wise to by the time you have tried to explain these mods you have done to your insurer.

All the mods have been declared mate wheels bumpers exhaust iv even declared tints and there not even on yet, a proper vrs would be great but the price diffrence between my car and a vrs is a lot, this car is just my daily work horse which I like to mess around with when ever I have time

I understand where your coming from.

And regarding handling I'm not really going to be rallying around anywhere mate I literally drive about 7 miles a day to work and back I just want the car to look nice as it's sitting sky high atm

no the the rear springs / shocks are not hub related they sit separatly from each other.

Have u looked at the fk ak street range ? Would give you the lower ride height and not that harsh unless you drive down farm tracks etc

The vrs springs and shocks are free only reason I'm changing them

if you get some front Bilstein B4 sport shocks(50mm), everything else should transfer over to your 1.9Tdi as you probably want a stiff shock to match the front VRS spring.

If you are just doing the springs then they should fit straight onto the 50mm strut.

If you are doing vRS springs & dampers then you have to change the hub carrier to accomodate the 55mm strut.

Because the 1.9tdi is one of the lighter engine/gearbox combos, it is likely that the front will not be lower. The spring rate is higher so it will be a firmer ride. I know this because one of the guys here in AU fitted RS springs to his 1.9tdi M5 and it sat 12mm higher.

You can either get the springs reset or cut half a coil off the bottom if you are dodgy. It says in the thread the coils have a special shaped bottom but I don't think they have. I know I'd take my chances with an angle grinder.

Not changing the front just the rear hopefully should drop it just a little but I'm not to sure just trail and error

Cutting is not an option but thanks for the input I know defiantly not to bother even swapping the front for definite now
