Got a outer cv joint boot to replace, and just in case the threads get ruined, I need confirmation of the size of nut and bolt that holds the lower wishbone ball joint to the hub. Will a M10 x 45mm with nylon locking nut suffice.(A2 stainless steel)

Thanks in advance.

Skoda part number for the bolt is N0104457

Part number for the nut is N10286102

It's about £2 from the dealer parts department, when taking out the outer cv joint you must use a new driveshaft nut too, if you Re use an old one it will work loose!

It is m10x45mm but the thread is only 20mm long, the plain unthreaded section engages with a slot machined onto the pin on the ball joint so you must use a bolt with the correct dimensions.

A2 stainless is NOT suitable for this application, you must use high tensile steel for all steering and suspension related components, high tensile is denoted by the number 10.8 stamped on the head of the bolt.

Just checked with local dealer, only the bolt is avaliable @ £4.20. But also the only other parts for a cv boot change avaliabe is the boot, and the smaller securing clip. They don't even stock the driveshaft circlip. (Thats across all dealerships). Looks like it will have to be EPC. It's not a gripe but, it looks like Skoda really aren't intrested in supplying felicia parts now. Like when I bought the speedo cable, the exact comment was "Good look finding another one".

Yes I must admit some of the parts are starting to drop off the system now, it's sad but these cars are in decline now, parts you could get a year ago are now obsolete. I'm going to start stockpiling certain key items.

Czech suppliers have almost every imaginable part for Felicia.

if parts are missing in UK, it is local dealers' fault.

With the nut being self locking, Does the nut need to be replaced every time it is removed? Or could I get away with some thread lock on the original nut. Shipping costs from the continent are extrordinary.

Shipping costs from the continent are extrordinary.

that is what dealers say to charge you an arm.

I occasionally order my parts online directly if I feel my local parts dealer tries to rob me.

I mentioned Czech sites only to prove there is no such thing as parts shortage.

there are also lots of Slovak and Polish sites too that sell Felicia parts.

as for the shipping price... that happens when you live far away on an island.

but you have to decide if it is better no parts at all for your car or a bit more expensive parts.

  • 2 weeks later...

Managed to get the nut from huddersfield VW (Synter). After exhausting lots of options, decided just to phone vw on an off chance, and hey presto, they had 5 in stock. So i've took 2.

Just a heads up if anyone ever needs some.

There was also a VW specialist in London that had some http://www.shop4volkswagen.co.uk/product/Parts_8_N10286102, but p&p was not cheap.

My advice would be if your looking for any felicia parts that are from vw stock it's best to try vw first.
