upgrading to alloys help appreciated

Alloys -TORQUE those nuts to 120NM. I've always tightened steels on all the cars I owned over 40+ years, but last time I did this, i rechecked a week later and used a torque wrench as the nuts were slack. Also- take all four off at regular intervilles as the front alloys love to bond to to the wheel carrier and the rears love to hang on to the drums.

Copper slick would sort it

Anyone know where I can find out which alloys are the lightest? I know the team dynamic ones I took off weighed a tonne compared to the a3 pepperpots...

If you can afford it then get proper motorsport alloys suitable for rallying, Compomotive, Speedline, Oz all make pukka wheels, rally car wheels have to be road legal since rally cars use public roads and have to pass an MOT.

Circuit racing wheels are no good because they're not strong enough for our pothole strewn public roads although they are generally very light, they often have 'not suitable for road use' stamped on them as well.

Magnesium alloy rally wheels are the lightest but generally very expensive indeed.

For light weight wheels I would recommend Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's

I think the audi ones maybe magnesium by how little they weighed in comparison!

Are you looking for super light wheels for a SDI?

Yep, better mpg :) well it's pretty good at the mo, average this month was 61mpg :)

He can go round corners just as fast as a VRS in an SDI, possibly faster since the car is slightly lighter.

If you keep going along that route, I imagine you can get some pretty phenomenal MPG out of it  :)

BUMP?

I have a fully refurbed set of 4 mk1 VRS alloys that i probably won't fit on mine as i'm thinking of selling.  Got 'em on the bay only a couple of months ago and are still wrapped n boxed in the garage.  Not sure how to request sale as i don't think i've built up the correct amount of posts (i've been on here for almost 4 years!!!)

Maybe PM me and if i can i'll send you link to the original ebay listing.

Cheers,

Rob

My Speedline Turini's are very light, lighter than Pro race 1.2's infact, but.... Good look finding a set  really expensive when bought new as well lol

You can help out fellow Briskies by paying for Freedom, which is what you need to sell stuff on here.
