Sump pan replacement, anyone running shallow pan? Now sorted... Thanks Darkside!

Featured Replies

While doing an oil change today I found that the plug had been previously cross threaded. I need to have it sorted before Tuesday but luckily darkside are just down the road from me and have been really helpful to book the car in tomorrow. I think the way to go is to replace the sump rather than have it tapped that way the oil pickup can be swapped as well.

I have a sump with the oil sensor in it, question is are there any issues running the shallow sump? I want a genuine sump fitted and because I need it quick this is what's available.

Can the sensor wire be removed? Is this the only sensor that will give a low oil warning light? I would never let the car get that low on oil anyway!

I run a shallow sump with no problems at all

It's in now, hopefully it won't throw up any warning lights.

I think you'll have to get the level sensor mapped out as I'm pretty sure the shallow sumps don't have a hole for the sensor

I wouldn't think the light is controlled by the ECU,prob just a switched earth sensor straight to clocks.

If it is the light won't come on if its just left disconnected,it only comes on when the oil sensor drops and creates the earth to switch the light on :)

All sorted, big thanks to darkside for sorting it so quickly. No fault codes it did have a sensor but it had never been coded from the factory so there's no fault codes!
