TPI vs TSB

Featured Replies

Hi,

Sorry of this has been covered elsewhere but I wondered if someone more knowledgeable then me could shed some light on what the difference is between a TPI and TSB.

I can find their acronyms of Technical Product Information and Technical Service Bulletins, but I’m not sure if 1 is advice when a customer spots an issue and the other has to be done, or they both have to be done, or if 1 is a recall and 1 is a ‘catch it at the service’ etc.

The reason for my question that is my seat is merrily collapsing and tailgate starting to rust, but at 4 ½ years old is well out of warranty.  I wonder if a TSI should have happened already (for the seat at least)..

Ta.

Tsb is the more commonly known 'recall' and a tpi is just a known fix for a fault recognised by volkswagen, and recommended to technicians

Ta – that’s a bit clearer.  So a TPI would only be performed if it’s complained about to the dealer then?
