High idle

Featured Replies

I been getting a few issues with my 2012 vrs blackline. Before I start I understand what a dpf regeneration is so I know it isn't that. The engine has been idling at around 950 revs, this happens up to 2ce a week, there's no burning smell and when turning engine off no fans kick in so this tells me it isn't dpf. Could this be a egr issue? I have no warning lights no issues on a vcds scan performance fells normal. Any ideas?

make sure all your accessories are off - heater motor, mirror demister, heated seats etc if you have them.

Woop my bad. Yea ment 950. Tapped one to many 0s haha

A DPF regen doesn't always result in burning smells and the fans staying on after the engine is turned off.

The burning smell usually disappears after a year or so once all the grease, oil and localised protective coatings have burnt off.

The fans are less likely to stay on if the regen was able to complete and also this time of years as the temps start to drop the fans aren't needed as much.

Can you be sure it isn't a regen?

It just seems to be happening to often. Happened over day 2ce in one day.

And had no dpf or eml illuminated

could it be the regen had just started and you switched off so the dpf wasn't hot enough to require 'the fans' how far had you gone when it happened andhow long had it been ticking over at 950?

I had driven 18 miles and engine temp was 90 oil temp was 95. Took it for a spirited drive today to just definitely rule out dpf. Its as I've said seems to be happening to regularly alately. Normally I've noticed a regeneration around 1ce every two month, but this has been happening around 1ce to 2ce a week.

How many miles are you doing as it will do a regen either when the soot gets to a certain level or every 500-600 miles which ever comes sooner so at once every 2 months it's probably done some while you were on a long trip and you didn't realise?

Average 100 to 150 miles a week.
