Anyone experienced an annoying rattle from rear???

Featured Replies

It's totally bugging me now!

The rattle is coming from the rear passenger side, I think. I have removed the rear parcel shelf, got my kids to get hold of the grab handles, move the headrests up a notch and it still rattles!!

Gonna take it into the dealer but I want to try and find out what it is before it goes in as what i don't want is for it to return still rattling!

It happens more when driving slowly if it helps.

Has anyone else with Fabia experienced something similar?

Had something similar in mine. A buzzy rattle over course road surfaces. Turned out to be the plastic trim covering the C pillar rubbing against other plastic trim that runs along the tops of the doors. Spray the interfaces between the mouldings with liberal quantities of silicone spray...

Same in mine! and front seatbelt rattling against handbrake housing.

I think this is a pretty common problem and can be fixed by adjusting the rubber stops where the seat backs clips into........

how long before Ross sees this and replies ?

Ross do you have a little word document with answers in so you can copy and paste. I think this question has been asked and answered about 629 times already......

Some things to check are the seat rubbers as already stated and the bootlid rubbers and guides.

I have more of a clunk when going over bumps which many believe is the exhaust. I too thought that but I am wondering myself now as when I wiggle the exhaust by hand it doesn't do it.

Yep experiencing the same thing from the drivers side rear. Only occuring after my leather seats were fitted but will try the things mentioned above and see if that fixes things.

I've got an annoying rattle coming from the plastic cover of the boot.

The front seat belt against the handbrake housing can simply be bent back

:)

Maybe a 'how to' is in order..lol

Ross

Could it be the hinge arrangement for the seats?

It so sounds like the exhaust but I can't get it to hit anything when I rattle it from the back.

I have this knocking too... even tried crawling around in the back while a friend drives - no such luck in finding it though. :finger:

Will give this a try tommorrow. I just hope it works as that's all I seem to do now driving the car is to listen out for it and keep glance back while I'm driving :finger:

Quick check is try it with the seats folded down, if the noise goes its the seat catches, adjust the stops.

I had what I thought was a suspensio clunk on my first fabia and it turned out to be the spare wheel and toolkit had worked loose.

The mechanic hit it spot on first time and seemed to think it was fairly common. That was a 2000 X reg car.

Mine rattles from what appears to be the near side rear seat belt or in that region. It does it all the time. Fixes you suggest, I'll try at the weekend unless anyone solves it by then

Mine to :o

and mine the way to fix it is move the seat back lol

OK found the problem area!! Did a test by dropping the rear seats. Problem gone.

I put the rear driver seat back up with headrest, still no rattle. Put rear passenger side seat up without headrest and rattles is back. Just trying to eliminate the headrest!

Problem is just as you described I think. I have looked at the rubber stop but how does it adjust? Is it just a case of unscrewing it for it to stick out more?

yep :)

The easy permanant fix to the seat belt knocking the handbrake surround rattle is to:

Remove the rear ash tray - give it a sharp tug and it simply pops out... Then loosen the 2 torx screws that have been exposed... Then whilst appluing pressure on the handbrake housing towards the drivers seat, tighten them back up again... Replace the ashtray and Roberts your mothers brother!

Anyone else's boot rattle when its on "halfway latched" ?? Mine always did and still does. But God bless the new vRS running gear - Now get a nice boot open light come on to remind me to shut it harder.:thumbup:

No others rattles from back there though, or from seatbelts.

I solved most annoying noises in the Furby by making SWMBO drive her own car!

Sorry, I know that joke's been done to death :(
