Trouble swapping wheels

Featured Replies

Perhaps a numpty Q but I am trying to swap over wheels on my mk1 vrs. I have bought a set of standard alloys with winters on and wanted to swap these over for the set of 17s (bbs alloys) that came on the car when I bought it. Trying to swap them over just now I am having difficulty getting the standard fronts to sit on the hub. They are not flush with the hub. Anyone got a pic of what a front hub should look like. Can't see a spigot ring that came with the bbs wheels. They fit snug but the standard vrs alloys do not.

Sure I'm being dim but any ideas?

Could the car be running spacers?

Pictures?

Both of the hub and back of the alloy.

Is the spigot ring from the other alloys still sat on the hub?

Sorry guys. Me be a plonker. Spigot rings were welded to the hub such that I thought they were part of the hub! Must have been on there for a good few years. Much swearing, hammering and prying later they are off and the standard alloys on. That should have been a lot simpler than it was!!!

:)

Perhaps a user name change is required?

It's not often I am right! :D  But I have this issue on trackdays as the spigot rings from my team dynamics (trackday wheels) always weld themselves to the hub and I need to extract them with a flat screwdriver and hammer.... (like a chisel) - Need to get replacement four over winter as they are now pretty knackered! :D
