Amundsen+ and MFSW fitting

Featured Replies

Had a search but couldnt find anything conclusive....

I've got an early mk2 octy elegance with the stream & 6cd changer. (late 05/early 06 model).
If I wanted to fit an amundsen+ unit and MFSW what else would I need for it to "work". I know for the bluetooth id need to add the mic. But what else would i need regarding Canbus/controllers etc??
And would the 6cd changer still work on an AUX function?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think the Amundsen will communicate with the mfsw as it stands as it uses a different communication protocol. If you install an auto polar box at the gateway it MIGHT work as this changes the communication protocol to the newer one that the Amundsen uses. I have fitted one successfully to get a newer phone module working with my pre FL maxidot.

See: http://www.carsystems.pl/fis-link-can-box-converter-for-red-dot-matrix-fis-and-new-bt-modules,id687.html. I would ask on the auto-polar forum to find out more. The manufacturers are pretty good and usually reply.

As to the cd changer I suspect (but its just a guess) that the Amundsen supports it as the pin outs are similar to the Columbus which definitely does. Having said that you will hardly need it as the SD card option is much easier.

Thanks adamal, looks like itd be mfsw with something older then like the stream, audience or old columbus??
As for SD card, my current music folder stands at over 52GB! Better be a big card!

Columbus is the way to go in my humble. It doesn't have to be old either, they work with both protocols. These days battery drain on older cars is fixed with a firmware upgrade too. I think kbphoto has one for sale in the classifieds...

And then everything would work fine with a MFSW? Would i not need a new steering controller etc?
