I've just got the car back after the dealer has had it for 4 days and after much diagnostics they've... (wait for it...) updated the firmware! I'm now on version 0390. I was also recommended to put the latest maps on, I've avoided this so far in case they decided to replace the control unit again. Not sure how a new map will make a difference, but it's all done now. The parking screen problem is still there, but they did tell me this time before handing it back. They are starting to say it is meant to work that way, so I sense an argument coming on.

I've noticed that the sat nav is always taking longer to start up than it did, so I wonder if they've introduced a startup order into the firmware. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

Got your PM, I will try and grab a video but I have a reversing camera and park assist so it may behave slightly differently.

I don't suppose they accidentally left the SD card with the firmware update on in the car did they?

Thanks Andy. Mine's got Park Assist but not the camera. Hopefully it'll stop any arguments.

No such luck on the sd card I'm afraid.  :(

Let me know if you want me to film the Jedi hand wave behaviour for evidence it is on multiple vehicles with Park Assist...

That would be great if you could? Let me know the size and we'll work out a way to get it transferred.

If you could also find time to report it to your dealer, it would be good to be able to say I know of another one on record...

It's at the dealer now (as it got towed home with a suspected boost sensor failure the other day), so I'll call them tomo and ask them to check that at the same time and let you know once it's on record. Once I have it back I'll do the vid.

Well I've had a play tonight - 2 times out of 3 it has stayed with all of the buttons visible.

I'll try and grab a video but need a passenger to hold the camera ......

Hi

I did an upgrade check on my October build Columbus yesterday. it is already on 370 and the maps are up to date when I put the VIN in the site. It did want to do a bluetoth software update. Is this how they will role out software updates?

Garnett

Only critical updates that can be self installed, and maps.

Firmware is dealer only, and then they need authorisation from Skoda.

If you upgrade the firmware yourself you get an error code logged for SVM (Software Version Management) that can't be cleared by VCDS.

It can be cleared with VCP though.

Just FYI, I did report this today to the dealer, hopefully tomorrow they will let me know what they find.

If you get nowhere I'll report it on mine when it is due the first service.

Thanks guys. It looks like what is known in the computer trade as an "undocumented feature".

I guess it's a question of pressing the point that it only happens on the sat nav screen.

I wonder if the Golf with a Discovery Pro does the same?

Weird thing is that on mine it is a bit random - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't!

If you hadn't pointed it out I wouldn't have noticed

Now, where is that SD card with 0390 on it spacenase??

Always happy to know I've made someone else's life a little more irritating!  ;)

Knowing my dealer, even if I got them to let me have the update they'd probably give me version 0039...

If you don't ask you don't get :)

Skoda claim to have fixed this issue with a software update - car being collected now, no details of what version they have put on yet (and I'm not convinced it's fixed either - Mrs is going to tell them to keep the car if it isn't).

Let me know what version is on the Columbus now .....

False alarm - no idea what the dealership or the Mrs were doing, but first time I got in the car it still does it :(

Let me know what version is on the Columbus now .....

I don't think they applied any firmware update to the Columbus Andy - but I didn't actually check the version given the fault was still present! I will take a look next time I'm in the car and let you know though mate.

Cheers. I wonder if they updated the Park Assist software?
