Rear hatch anti drippity mod?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Has anyone had any success in stopping the rear hatch dripping 2L (well slight exaggeration!) of water in to the boot when you open it after a down poor? I remember a while back reading something about a corsa window seal, but can't remember what.

Now it has started persisting it down again I figured I'd best get this done!

Thanks in advance,

Cal

I filled the strip below the glass with black mastic, it has cut down the amount of flash flooding but it still happens :D

Firstly clean out all the crap from the channel, i used a old paintbrush, then degrease it with isoprop'.

I used a part used cartridge of Tigerseal and injected it carefully creating a uniform bead (L - R). Then smoothed it down with a wet fingertip, finally cleaned off excess with cloth soaked in isoprop'.

As said above it doesnt stop all of the dripping but no more Niagra Falls into the car.

Excellent! Thanks chaps! I'll get on to that this week :-)

Good tip, cheers!

You need two beads of black silicone on the sides of the tailgate glass!

I was thinking about something like that, initially I thought about using the slide on edging strip for it to run down but it'd look fugly. A silicone bead there too may do the job. Have you done that mark?

I haven't done it Cal!

I've just got some black silicone to do a rear wiper delete,so I'll have a nosy at the silicone beady anti drip mod when I've sorted the wiper delete ;-)

You can get a small tube from halfrauds for £5.99 ;-(
