Vrs rear brakes

Featured Replies

Maybe a stupid question but I am upgrading the fronts to 312's. As I will have the carriers and calipers, can I fit them onto the rears.I know 256 octavia rears fit but thought I would ask.

Thanks

Are you asking if the standard front 288's will fit In place of the rear 232's?

Yes mate I am.

Well front calipers operate completely differently to back ones. Plus what are you going to fit the brake cable to?

These were things I was hoping to be told Chris as I am mechanically inept.

standard are 232mm solid disc 256mm are vented discs and more than enough i run 323mm on the front

I know about the size differences and vented etc but totally forgot about handbrake cables

Do 256 vented rears fit straight on?

yes! along with callipers of course

And not off a 4 wheel drive.

If they are off a 4 wheel drive what does it take to get them to fit? I know you need to trim the splash guard but what else is involved?

They won't fit full stop. You need the 256 setup from a 2wd car (or at least the carriers off a 2wd car - the calipers are the same)

Other than that though you're right; either trim or remove the splash guard and everything else should fit in the same way as it did with the original calipers.

Stick to octy Vrs or Cupra R rears. Much safer bet!

I've bought rear brakes off an Audi TT 250bhp so they won't fit?

Nope - Did you do any research before buying? :)  4WD are different.  I made same error and even using the supposed corrective bracket sold on UK mkIVs forum, they didn't fit.

Audi TT's didn't come in 250bhp. Either 225 or 240.
