Octavia 1Z5 e2005 estate heater matrix change

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I think my heater problem (no heat) is due to a blocked matrix (have drained, flushed, cleaned and changed coolant) as only one of the coolant pipes into it gets hot.

What's the easiest way to remove the heater matrix and change it? Does the dash have to come out? I can barely get a hand to it from the engine bay....

Many thanks.

Pretty sure it's do-able from inside the car, there are clamps that clamp around the heater pipes where they come into the heater box, engine side they are quick disconnect connectors.

Inside car there is a removable flap on the passenger side, will have to put some plastic sheet down on the carpet if you don't want antifreeze on it.

Nice one thanks a lot.

Any ideas what trim needs to come out? Presuming glovebox and centre console side carpeted panel for starters....?
