Traffic Updates (no more?!)

Featured Replies

Hi All

Had my mk3 Vrs for 10 very happy months and done 18k miles.

I have Sat Nav and the traffic update feature on the Amundsen has been very useful on long journeys but last week this stopped working. Just shows "no traffic reports available".

Always used to have 4 or 5 events showing whilst driving on the M4 in rush hour. When joining a 16mile tailback this morning i'm pretty sure it's not updating! Not shown a single event for a week.....

Has anybody else had this problem? Does it require a subscription or anything?

Thanks

The traffic updates on my Columbus can be a bit variable. I've been warned of closed roads which had been open for days, and not warned of roads that had been closed for hours. The other day on the M6 I had a warning announcement about slow traffic ahead (at least I think thats what she said as annoyingly the radio volume isn't reduced during nav announcements), and a queue shown on the nav screen. But there was nothing to be seen anywhere.

No subscription required - comes over the radio signal I think.

On the Amundsen there's a setting for reducing the radio volume during nav announcements, you can even control how much the radio is turned down by. I assume Columbus must be the same.

Haven't noticed any issue with the traffic updates, but I haven't been out a lot the last couple of weeks.

Thanks for the replies! I wasn't 100% clear in the first post but its my Traffic Reports which have stopped working (not the updates through the radio)

Car is booked in for a service tomorrow so will find out hopefully!

Cheers

Had no issues with mine loading Traffic Reports and subsequently displaying them on the Nav screen. Been quite accurate also

Have you turned off dynamic routing?

If it is displaying no traffic reports at all then it could be a dodgy aerial as it uses the second aerial for the TMC info. Is your AM and FM reception OK as well as your DAB?

I've noticed in the last week or so that mine is taking several minutes (10-15) to show any messages after start up and then those that are showing tend to be further afield, so just assumed the local TMC reports are not transmitting for some reason.  There are loads of roadworks on my regular route from Sheff to Notts and they have recently dug up all the cables to install a "Smart" motorway so wondered if they have upset the TMC networks cabling as I guess the cabling for local A roads links in with the motorway network on-route to their control centre or is it all wireless these days???

Everything is working normally Andy, i haven't adjusted any settings on the nav but will check the dynamic routing - thanks!

Matt thats exactly what goes on with mine, every day there was reports of traffic on the M4 between Newport and Bristol now nothing..... Definately not true! Haha.

Spoke to the dealer today and it's not a subscription service and nobody else reported the problem aparently.

I'll give it another week and contact them again!

Cheers

Mine seems to be ok in the evening but slow to pick up reports in the morning, which sort of bu99ers my previous theory!

All OK enroute to Southampton today.

If the car is showing 'no traffic reports' then there definitely seems to be a problem with your car. Unless its a 'characteristic' of the car :D

Mine was ok today, travelled Sheff to Newbury this morning, however did notice no reports for M1 between Sheff and Notts and there are always delays at mo due to roadworks so reckon the cameras on that section of M1 are currently out of action, bet they still got the power on to speed cameras tho!

It used to work fine, no reports all week again and was sat in a 8 mile tailback on the M4 one morning.....

Google shows the congestion areas so the sensors are definately still active. I just can't think why its stopped all of a sudden!

Dealers next week [emoji35]

Yep, that must be a car problem. I have no problems with traffic updates. Was even more reliable that every other source of traffic the other week.
