New Diesel by VAG - Octavia vRS?

Featured Replies

I hope so but doubt it.

I reckon it will be used in the 4x4s and saloons etc

Dammit! by the time I can afford to buy and run something with more than 4 cylinders there won't be any left.

I know the technology is probably wonderful but I just can't get excited about high powered small capacity engines.

I suppose for me there really is no replacement for displacement. V12 or Straight 4....

How many gears (DSG) with this Diesel, having undoubted loads of torque

Imagine a stage 1 map on that, it would be one quick octy

There is currently a 2.0 BiTDi with 237 bhp. I'm guessing this is also bi-turbo?

The passat with this engine currently has a 6 speed DSG.

If they can get 10bhp more than the V6 out of a 2.0... then what's the V6 really capable of?!

Having driven a Touareg 3.0 V6 TDI with the 8 speed ZF box I'd be very surprised if the new 4 cylinders can match it's smoothness and torque!

10 speed DSG? They're just reinventing the CVT...

Though this is interesting, start-stop on the go:

"Among the features offered by the 10-speed DSG is a coasting function that switches off the engine during periods of trailing throttle and then starts it automatically for added fuel savings"

Unlikely to be in the VRS. The latest petrol version only gets the 220bhp variant, which is some way behind what others in the VAG range are given in their 'cooking' 2.0 petrols. Given that what bloody chance does the derv stand of getting the 'cutting edge' variant.  :D
