Yellow Haze on O/S Headlight....

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Just wondering if anyone's got like a yellow hue/tint over there headlight or both. My o/s headlamp has like a yellow film over it. Not sure if its dirt or just the lens has had the colour burnt into it from the light over the years. But looks like a light yellow old colour. Any one know how to get rid of this? if you know what im  talking about lol, Finding it hard to explain :/

Any help would be appreciated :D

Cheers all.

Wet sanding and polishing to sort. :)

I can never find appropriate graded wet & dry paper locally, neither the local ironmongery nor b&q seem to have it

What grades do you use please??

From past headlights I've restored, I tend to start with 1000 grit, followed up by 2000, and finally 3000. (I purchased a load from Clean your Car when I did my last order with them)

Then switch to the D/A polisher (I'm currently using a combination of Sonus pads with Menzerna compounds) to bring them up nice and sparkly! Then whenever the car gets a top up coat of wax I go over the headlights as well to keep them protected from future hazing :)

Anyone used uv primer to prevent them going yellow again?

Halfords sell all but the finer wet & dry.  Up to 1500 grit I think.
