The little yellow camera flashes, it costs you £100 minimum and three points.

You overstay your welcome in a car park, it costs you £85.

You put everyone's life at risk on a motorway with a Heavy Truck by doing a U Turn and all you get is to pay £85 costs?   A suspended sentence means he won't do any time!   What is wrong with this country?   It's time we grew a pair!   FFS - he's Lithuanian - he'll have a duplicate licence next week and be driving somewhere else in Europe where they don't know him!    Banning him from driving is useless!

Saw it earlier. I actually thought following the initial mistake he probably made the best of a bad situation.

I surprised a local in France once approaching a roundabout on the wrong side

As above.  Presumably a genuine mistake, and despite the comments about endangering life and limb in the comments, it was a potential hazzard rather than a real one.  His solution was the best of a bad job.

A 15 month suspended sentence seems a bit harsh in comparison to the idiots racing the wrong way up and down a busy dual carriageway as a taunt to the police that was posted a few months ago.  (given I have no idea if they were ever sentenced or even caught).

Is it a bit of the recent anti eastern European creeping in?

Can just imagine what could have happened if the road had been busy (ie the M6 and not the M6 Toll).

Its easily done, momentary lapse of concentration and a foreign driver ends up on the wrong side of the road.

Any ban issued is only valid in this country, the ban is applied to a notional (ie. non existent) UK license, so he can go back to France and continue driving. The same is true of UK drivers banned in France, Spain, etc. the ban is only valid in that country.

However a local banned in their own license issued country is EU wide.

To be fair there are drivers resident in Britain who are banned in their home country   and have never passed a test here :notme:

Agree, and when he did enter the motorway there wasn't much traffic.

Have you read the article?

He turned around at the toll booths to avoid having to pay the £11 M6 toll, drove the wrong way down a motorway slip road and then turned left across the slip road, hard shoulder and two live lanes of motorway.

That's no simple mistake or momentary lapse of concentration.
