I think you'll find they mould them in clay.

Or make them out of concrete. I've seen that.

I avoid the concrete and clay cars, as the doors are very tricky to open. Visibility is limited too, although the car has a very solid feel to it.

Mine is fabricated from metal, and moulded plastic bits, with some glass too :P
